MISE-EN SCENE
MISE-EN SCENE
Mise-en scene is everything that you see.
the components of mise-en scene are lighting, sound, editing, and acting
in mise-en scene there are two major visual components design and composition
Design:
design is setting props, lighting, and actors/costuming. using props to show the characters emotions, consuming can show conflict, and set/setting, lighting, and actors reflects the theme.
Composition:
composition the organization, distribution, balance, and general relationships of actors and objects. organizing scenes and shots in a ways to make a specific purpose. for example if scenes are going really fast and it is a fast paste movie it's on purpose to make it seem exciting.
using mise-en scene you can figure out the purpose of it being dark or how the lighting showed Michael Myers in the background.
i learned that everything in a movie is usually done on purpose for the overall theme of the movie. i always wondered why some certain things happened in a movie but i didn't know anything about them so when I found out that you constantly seeing a basketball contributes to the theme of basketball is the love of the main character.
